HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS & ABOVE

  • Goodwill Industries: Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee’s mission is, “Changing lives through education, training and employment.”​ The agency, based in Nashville, Tenn., employs more than 2,000 people and serves 48 counties throughout Middle and West Tennessee. We operate 33 retail stores, including three outlet stores, Career Solutions centers and over 70 donation sites. Goodwill is Middle and West Tennessee’s largest employer of people with disabilities with more than 80 percent of our workforce reporting some type of disability or disadvantage.
    • Staff Accountant Summer Intern: The Accounting Intern will be an integral part of the Finance and Accounting team, actively participating in the transition to a new Accounting System as well as other projects. This position requires analytical work, an understanding of GAAP and a working knowledge of Excel.   • State of Tennessee: The State’s Tennessee Leaders of Tomorrow is an 8-week program for interns to have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of state government and important job skills, as well as participate in leadership development activities, including optional speaker series and special programing at the state capitol in Nashville.

    • Information Technology (IT) Intern: The ideal candidate will have a specialized interest in information technology for future career aspirations. Responsibilities for this position include assisting with project tasks such as research and data entry for asset management, assisting the team imaging machines and swapping out machines in support of business needs, other administrative support items.     • Java Developer Intern: As a member of the development team, each Intern Developer works with various technologies and software, including the Trinisys Business Automation Platform to develop client solutions. Intern Developers implement enterprise applications, provide systems support, assist in developing specifications for moderately complex software applications and modify/maintain existing software solutions.     • Project Manager Intern: The PM Intern works with various technologies and software, including the Trinisys Business Automation Platform.     • Sustainability Innovation – Software Engineer Intern: As a software engineering intern in Office of the CTO, you will be working on bleeding edge technologies and approaches in workload optimization and efficient resource utilization etc. with a goal of more energy- and carbon-efficient computing. You will be collaborating with a team on developing a prototype that will identify VMs that are no longer doing useful work but still using resources (“zombie VMs”), and provide remediation options to mitigate the financial, security and sustainability impacts of zombie VMs. [APPLY HERE]
    • Blockchain Engineering Cloud Services Intern: As a member of the VMware Blockchain Engineering team, you will play an active role in supporting the implementation of microservices that deploy, manage and monitor blockchain replicas, managing the implementation of a deployment service that deploys blockchain replicas across clouds – both public and private, supporting the implementation of a set of tools that help in the diagnosis and triage of issues on blockchain replicas, possibly using ML technology, effectively collaborating with other engineers to solve complex problems, and assisting with debugging and verification of defects in your own and others’ work.     • Open Source Engineer Intern: A successful candidate will be proficient in core software engineering skills, including translating requirements into implementation, writing maintainable software, following revision control best practice, debugging, analysis, and problem resolution. Open source software development is a highly collaborative effort; strong communication skills are required for effective code review, written technical discussions, including advocating for a specific solution to a given problem in a geographically dispersed set of contributors.
